Rest In Peace.
this is me surfing…
My friend Burt is the great grandson of George Burns. He asked me to paint this portrait of His grandmother being held by Gracie and read a story by George Burns. The Black and white photo was taken in 1931. It was a fun assignment because it is like nothing else I have attempted before… I don’t know much about George Burns or Gracie but I’ve been told that Gracie was alot like Lucy from I love Lucy.. They had a tv show and it was really popular, but Gracie’s character was a classic “dumb blond”.
Burt has been watching my progress because he is my neighbor. I like when people watch me work. I have learned to take in all the comments and listen carefully to learn from them– even from people who have no experience with art. Sometimes the people who know the least have the most insightful things to say. …
Strange thing with wordpress is, I always invite people to comment, but only 3 people have made comments, out of the 2 thousand or so views…. strange.
Still not considering myself to be sexy…and since I don’t have any pictures of myself on here, it’s not like I could ask any opinions! But if Phil considers me to be sexy…I’ll go with it!
This is Phil painting away on a bluesman…and lets not forget the dog! I LOVE dogs! (Well, I love MY dogs.) I don’t know how Phil feels about them yet but as of right now, he seems to be handling them without any raging fits of anger! He loves blues music so a couple of months ago when I was wondering around the book store I found a book on blues musicians. He’s done quite a few paintings from the photos in the book and when he arrived here the other day, I immediately started talking about paintings for my house. I’ve mentioned a portrait of my dogs in the past and he did everything except laugh in my face! SO, while flipping through this book, we found this photo of Hounddog Taylor and of course, his dog! I couldn’t have asked for a better picture to fit both of our “loves”!
He’s still working on the finishing touches and as soon as it’s through…it’ll be hanging in my hallway. A bluesman with his dog…the best of both of our worlds!
This is my self portrait; an oil sketch on paper. I gave it as a gift to my girlfriend, “sexy guest blogger”… It is shortly after checking the waves at the end of my street, Ostend Court, Mission Beach, California. I haven’t done a self portrait in about 8 years. The last 3 times I tried, the paintings always sold to gay men. Strange phenomenon, don’tcha think?
I usually tag my posts with the words, sex, erotic, lesbian, etc. It seems to draw people to the post, but noone ever comments, and I think they must be dissappointed when there are no underage, naked, porn shots on my site. Does anyone have suggestions of tags to include that might attract serious art buyers? any comments at all? I even like negative comments……
