John Lee Hooker.
As a girlfriend of a surfer, that happens to be an artist, and a lover of naked women…I should be a little concerned that my boyfriend has surfboards with naked women painted all over them. BUT! I find it to be comical! I mean, I don’t think there’s anything more enjoyable to Phil besides surfing..which means, he’s laying down on top of his board, looking into the eyes of a painting which just happens to be a naked woman! HHMMM…maybe this should bother me! :) Nah…I love his artwork! It’s a form of expressing himself that I find to be absolutely beautiful…and I love the look on my friend’s faces when I show them a picture of something he’s painted and it’s a naked woman…and it’s not me!
This is a board he recently completed for a friend of his. He requested something a little different than what Phil usually paints. As you can see, most of Phil’s paintings, are not of blonde hair or fake breasts…or cowboy hats for that matter so he stepped out of his shell a little for this one. Once again, I love it! Maybe because it is a little different than what he usually does. Hell, maybe I have a thing for blondes with fake breasts and cowboy hats…Who knows?
When I was on Myspace, I had a short encounter with Avi Lee….As in, she looked at my art and wrote me to say that she wanted to do a portrait. Well, that was it! In 2007, when I was in Indonesia on a surfing trip, I decided to work on her portrait. So, I took it upon myself to paint a picture of her from her pictures on her Myspace page.
I’ve decided to let go of it so I posted it on eBay today. The bidding is starting at $.99 and will be available for 5 days. It’s a kickass painting with a cool story behind it…a great conversation piece. 32″x24″ pastel on plywood. It’s listed under original art, posted by artist.
I could get use to taking over Phil’s blog! :) OK…not quite as erotic on this one…but sexy, maybe? This was actually done from 2 photographs. We liked my body in one and my face in the other so he combined the two and this is what he got. Personally…I love it! Whatcha think?
I’m watching him paint now. So far, so good. It’s a picture of an old bluesman and his dog. I, being a dog lover, wanted a painting of a dog…he, being a lover of blues music, wanted a painting of a bluesman. So, while looking through a book, we found a picture of a blues singer with his guitar and his dog! PERFECT! He should be finished with it by the end of the week and I’ll be sure to get it on here. Like I said…I could get use to taking over his blog!
